Biodiversity Specialist
Location:
Pune / Hyderabad / Gurugram
Qualification:
- Bachelor / Master's degree in Botany, Zoology, Biodiversity, or related field.
- Certification in biodiversity conservation or related field will be add on.
Professional Experience:
At least 5 years of demonstrated expertise in conducting gap assessments for biodiversity reports and developing/implementing biodiversity management plans.
Domain Knowledge:
- Familiarity with international standards such as IFC (PS 6 etc.), ADB, and other relevant environmental regulations.
- Strong understanding of India's biodiversity and conservation landscape.
- Field experience in biodiversity assessments and environmental impact assessments (EIA or ESIA)
Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with GIS and other relevant tools like IBAT, think hazard etc.
- Experience working on renewable energy projects is a plus.
Job Description:
- Collaborate with external agencies to facilitate and oversee Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), biodiversity assessments for solar and wind power plant sites, ensuring alignment with international standards like IFC, ADB, and other environmental regulations as applicable.
- Conduct comprehensive gap assessments of biodiversity reports, ESIA Reports thereby identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Provide expertise and support to external agencies conducting biodiversity assessments, ensuring thorough and accurate evaluations.
- Work closely with project teams to integrate biodiversity considerations throughout project development processes.
- Develop and/or implement biodiversity management plans for acquired lands, emphasizing sustainable practices and conservation measures.
- Advise on the implementation of biodiversity conservation initiatives based on assessment findings, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation measures on project sites.
- Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address concerns, foster positive relationships, and implement community awareness programs related to biodiversity conservation efforts.
- Collaborate with investors. Lenders and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of biodiversity measures into the overall project framework.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation on gap assessments, biodiversity evaluations, and the implementation of conservation strategies as required.
